"I visited my GP recently to have a lump on my scalp checked out. My GP diagnosed a cyst and asked me to make an appointment to have it removed.
The first appointment they could give me was a month away, and a week before my son’s graduation. I was told I would not be able to wash my hair for 9 days. This did not appeal, so I went to see Miss O’Neill for a second opinion. She saw me almost immediately, on a Saturday, and by Wednesday had removed the “lump”. Miss O’Neill, was extremely careful, removing only a few hairs along the line of the incision, and making sure that the lesion was completely excised. I was allowed to wash my hair after 48hrs. My follow up appointment was 10 days later, by which time the pathology results were back. Not the cyst that my GP had diagnosed but a pilomatrixoma, and luckily, completely benign.
Miss O’Neill then did her utmost, successfully, I should add, to get me healed in time for my son’s graduation, followed two weeks later by my other son’s wedding.
